Parama Chaudhury is Principal Teaching Fellow in the Department of Economics at UCL. She has taught at the University of Oxford, Yale University and Dartmouth College before coming to UCL. She received her Ph.D. from New York University and is interested in labour economics particularly employer-employee relationships and inequality. More recently, Parama has been studying active learning techniques and technologies, such as web-based audience response systems and team-based learning. Not coincidentally, these methods pop up in Parama’s classrooms, where students are encouraged to participate in policy discussions on topics ranging from the subsidisation of higher education to the recent TTIP trade agreement. As the departmental E-Learning Champion, Parama also liaises between the Economics department and UCL’s E-Learning team. She is also a member of the CORE project teaching and learning committee. Finally, Parama was recently appointed Faculty Lead for UCL’s BME Attainment Gap project for the Faculty of Social and Historical Sciences. She is a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Parama is CTaLE’s contact person for the Economics Education seminar series.
